An adorable and quite large Bisque Piano Baby girl in a crocheted bonnet playing with her toes in the back position.
Incised on the bottom and also marked in red is the mark 6127.
This piece is beautifully done, with intaglio eyes, lovely painting and modeling, raised slip decorations on the ruffles, dimples and fat rolls and little fingernails and a smooth bisque surface.
She is about 7 inches long and 4 inches high at the up-stretched foot, and around 2 3/4 inches wide. The baby is in perfect condition, with no missing pieces, cracks, or chips. Just adorable.
We believe this is an "after" mold by Andrea though it is not marked, the original which was produced by Gebruder Heubach in the late 1800s. Heubach's molds were often copied during the mid 20th century by other manufacturers trying to recreate the "Victorian" look for home decor.
Many of the copies were quite crude in texture, this one however is very well done for a reproduction piece.
Still quite a lovely display piece for anyone's piano or newborn nursery.
