Hans Sebald Beham (1500-1550) was best known as a printmaker, producing more than 250 engravings and over a thousand woodcuts in his lifetime. Beham was part of the German school known as "Little Masters", named such because their work was tiny, yet highly detailed. Beham was no exception, much of his work was no larger than that of today's postage stamp. Beham likely studied under Albrecht Durer a prolific engraver of his time, both concentrated most of their work on religious figures and scenes.
